  • ACT Scale Modellers’ Society – This society caters for members who collect or build scale models. Associated with this is the basic improvement of members’ modelling skills and techniques.
  • Australian Battle Group, The – Australian home of “Big-Gun” Radio-Controlled Model Warship Combat.
  • Ballina RSL Club Marine Modellers – A club hosted by the Ballina RSL Club for all marine models from static display craft through to those powered by battery, steam, sail, clockwork, or rubber bands.
  • Hubertus Model Boat Club –
  • Maritime Heritage Association – The Maritime Heritage Association is a not for profit organisation formed in 1989 aimed at preserving and promoting the Maritime Heritage of Western Australia.
  • Newcastle Marine Modellers – The club is affiliated to the Newcastle Regional Maritime Museum at Fort Scratchley. The idea behind the Museum affiliation is to encourage the building of good quality replicas of Newcastle’s maritime history which float and move as opposed to sitting in a glass case. This does not mean that you must build local replicas, you can build whatever you like providing it’s a scale model ship and powered by electric motor and or steam.

  • Ship Modelers Association (USA) – The Ship Modelers Association (SMA) claims to be the largest ship modeling club in California. The SMA aims to foster research and interest in nautical heritage by researching and building scale ship models.
  • Ship Modelling Society of Victoria – The Ship Modelling Society of Victoria Inc. was established in Melbourne in 1938 to encourage, and to provide facilities for, the furtherance of the art of ship modelling. It is primarily an association for people with an interest in ship modeling, in all its forms (plastic, wood, card, period or modern ships, and remote control). The association also welcomes anyone with an interest in maritime art, photography or literature.
  • Sydney Maritime Modellers Club – The SMMC exists as an entry level and racing club for Radio Controlled and Model Yachting and provides Handicap Racing for any class of sailing yacht and Scratch Racing for International One Meter (IOM) and Soling One Meter (S1M) class yachts.
  • Sydney Model Shipbuilders Club Inc. – The club’s aims are to:
    • Provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and techniques relevant to model ship building;
    • Provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and techniques relevant to model ship building;
    • Foster and maintain interest in building model ships and boats;
    • Promote the art and craft of model ship building to the community;
    • Encourage interest in Australian maritime history.
  • Task Force 72 Scale Model Ship Association Inc. – This website provides Association members, potential members and members of the general public with information about the association and its activities. They focus on R/C 1:72 scale model naval and merchant vessels.
  • Wagga & District Scale Model Club – Wagga Wagga & District Scale Model Club was established in 1983, with their first show the following year in 1984. They are a family orientated group of modelers in and around Wagga Wagga, NSW, focusing on making models in a friendly relaxed atmosphere, while having fun and encouraging the junior modelers.

  • German Empire Naval Ensigns and Flags – A very useful site for more detail on military flags, in this case the Imperial German Navy.
  • Signal Flags – A useful summary of the history and current status of signal flags
  • Signaling at Sea – A very useful site on the use of flags for signalling through history.
  • Westbourne models.com (UK) – They claim to have some 300 to 400 model boat kits split between static plank on frame and radio control kits. They also stock scale model flags and a broad range of other fittings and supplies.

  • Australian Sail Training Association, The – The Australian Sail Training Association (AUSTA) is a voluntary organisation which aspires to promote, assist and support Australian/NZ Sail Training Associations and tall ship operators in their endeavours.

  • Maritime Art Greenwich (UK) – This is a learning resource combining subject expertise and the National Maritime Museum’s oil painting collection. The website offers a searchable database of selected paintings plus in-depth content on some of the major themes of maritime art.

  • Vallejo Gallery (USA) – Dedicated to the visual marine arts, the Vallejo Gallery has a large collection of fine maritime paintings and marine themed art.
  • Wallace W. Trickett – Heritage Transport Artist (NZ) – Wallace Tricket paints a broad spectrum of heritage transport subjects including merchant shipping. Wallace settled in New Zealand in 1979 having served as a marine engineer with the Blue Star Line. It is not surprising, therefore, that Wallace has a particular passion for painting ships of the Blue Star line.

  • The Ship Model Forum – This is an excellent site for shipbuilders of all types. Mainly concentrating on warships , it covers scratch and kit, plastic and resin, steam and sail, coal and nuclear. It has a section devoted to discussion of particular ships (Calling all (Ship X) Fans). These sections are very active and can be a source of very useful information.
